INTERNATIONAL | MYSTERIES | THRILLERS

I am a writer coming into her own, growing from a hobbyist to an aspiring author. Writing has served as an escape for me. A safe harbor where after a day of navigating faculty rivalries, balancing under-resourced budgets, and handling student demands, I can slip into a different persona and craft mind-bending mysteries that have even me stumped until the end.

Novels

Loose Ends

Book 1 in the Avery Danvers Trilogy

In this dark mystery, Avery Danvers’s brilliance as a cybersecurity analyst is put to the test, not while she is at the agency, but after she is abruptly retired. Told to take some time away to heal from a brutal abduction and a painful divorce, the shy introverted woman, on the cusp of middle age, decides to travel the world through house-sits. But disturbing incidents at her first long-term house-sit in the Cotswolds, and later in London and Wales, bring back haunting memories of her kidnapping and her captors. The presence of Gareth Evans, an attractive retired Interpol agent with whom she had a brief but intense encounter, further complicates things by adding his own ghosts to the mix. When each house brings new bodies, Avery realizes she has no one to save her, but herself, and uses her brilliant mind to permanently silence the intruders in her head-- and in her house.

While house sitting in Croatia, Avery Danvers,  a socially awkward, retired cyberanalyst and her partner, Gareth Evans, a former Interpol agent, continue to be haunted by the specter of operations past as a new oligarch takes power and threatens to finish the job his predecessor failed to complete.

Parting at the Seams

Book 3 in the Avery Danvers Trilogy

When tragedy strikes during a housesit in Bruges, retired cyber agent Avery Danvers turns the tables, from hunted to hunter, to lure the illusive head of an illegal smuggling operation out into the open, so that he-- and his empire-- can be destroyed forever.

Profile

Blythe Hudson is the pen name we co-writing sisters use for our dark mystery trilogy. Keeping our identities as secret as our suspects because of our positions as a dean of a small university and as a senior international development banker, we have adopted a persona that matches our personalities and yet protects our identities.

As Blythe herself says: “I am a writer coming into her own, growing from a hobbyist to an aspiring author. Writing has served as an escape for me. A safe harbor where after a day of navigating faculty rivalries, balancing under-resourced budgets, and handling student demands, I can slip into a different persona and craft mind-bending mysteries that have even me stumped until the end.

A professor of business strategy and head of department at a local community college as well as a  mother of two grown daughters, I live in Silver Spring, Maryland with my chocolate lab, Horatio, and a cockatiel named Dancing Dana, the last vestige of the menagerie my children left behind to “keep Mom company” when they headed off to college.”

We also write the Blake Sisters cozy mysteries under the Carter Fielding pen name and have borrowed Chief Inspector Gareth Evans from that series.
